Day 1: Arrival in Paro, Drive to Thimphu

Upon arriving at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your guide. After a brief introduction to the mystical Land of the Thunder Dragon, we’ll embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu. Take it easy today to acclimatize to Bhutan's altitude. Upon arrival, you’ll check into your hotel, savor your first taste of Bhutanese cuisine, and perhaps engage in some light sightseeing, including a visit to the national animal, the Takin, a strange yet fascinating creature resembling a moose stung by a bee.

Day 2: Exploring Thimphu Valley

Begin your exploration of Thimphu by visiting the Heritage Museum, which offers a glimpse into Bhutan's rural past. Then, witness the artistry of traditional weaving at the Textile Museum. A visit to Thimphu Dzong, the largest dzong in Bhutan and the seat of the King’s office, will give you a sense of Bhutanese power and religion. The day continues with a visit to the National Memorial Chorten, built in honor of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, and a trip to a traditional Bhutanese paper factory. Later, explore the Centenary Farmers’ Market, a lively weekend marketplace where locals from across the region come to trade their goods.

Day 3: Thimphu to Punakha

On the drive to Punakha, you’ll pass through the stunning Dochula Pass, adorned with 108 chortens built to commemorate Bhutan's victory over Indian militants. Upon arriving in Punakha, visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, a masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture built in 1637, strategically located at the confluence of two rivers. Then, make your way to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a unique chorten built by the third Queen Mother after eight years of careful craftsmanship, showcasing intricate Bhutanese artistry.

Day 4: Punakha to Gangtey

Begin the day with a short hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, a temple dedicated to the ‘Divine Madman’ Drukpa Kuenley, a pilgrimage site for women seeking fertility blessings. Then, head to Wangdue Phodrang, a quaint town renowned for its bamboo work, slate carving, and dramatic Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, perched on a hill overlooking the rivers. This Dzong is an impressive sight and a significant historical landmark in Bhutan.

Day 5: Gangtey Valley Sightseeing

Explore the stunning Phobjikha Valley, a winter home to the rare and graceful black-necked cranes that migrate from the Tibetan Plateau. Overlooking the valley is the ancient Gangtey Goempa monastery, dating back to the 17th century. The serene beauty of this place and the sight of the cranes is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Day 6: Gangtey to Paro

Today, return to Paro, a valley rich in cultural heritage and natural beauty. Visit the Paro Dzong, a fortress that dates back to the 15th century and serves as the administrative center of the district. You will also explore the Ta Dzong, a former watchtower turned National Museum, showcasing Bhutan’s ancient artifacts, textiles, and weapons.

Day 7: Hike to Tiger’s Nest

The day begins with an exhilarating hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery, also known as Taktsang Monastery. This stunning monastery clings to a cliffside and is considered one of the most sacred sites in Bhutan. After lunch, visit the ancient Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, and spend the evening relaxing at your hotel or indulging in a hot stone bath infused with local herbs.

Day 8: Departure from Paro

After a fulfilling journey, it’s time to bid farewell to Bhutan. Take an early flight back home or to your next travel destination, leaving with cherished memories of Bhutan’s enchanting landscapes and warm-hearted people. Tashi Delek!
